RESTORATION AIMS
- Restore approximately 20% of hte current jetty
- Length of 240 metres with a width of 9 metres
- 'T' section at the end, to be 30 metres across
- Sympathetic heritage restoration
BENEFITS
- Safe and accessible fishing environment for everyone
- A pleasant stroll over the water to view aquatic activities
- Significant source of food for dolphins. The jetty is a natural living reef where the fish breed and shelter.
- 'T' section at tend to provide deep water fishing and sailing ship moorings, eg Leeuwin Endeavour
- Heritage listed maritime icon
FURTHER CONCEPTS FOR THE FUTURE
- The jetty will be the central feature of commercial development of the causeway and waterfront
- An interpretive centre with public facilities could be built near the beginning of the jetty
- Plaques recognising former workers and notable events
- Low mooring facilities
- 800m long tourist rail for miniature rain from shore to end of jetty
- 70m section of the jetty is open to the public now, so visit it and imagine the opportunities...
